India is already the world’s largest milk consumer and the appetite is only growing. A largely unorganised sector, it is slowly moving into the branded space, which has prompted Prospero Tree’s Dhruvesh Sanghvi to bet on Hatsun Agro Products Ltd.

The pure-play dairy product maker has its own dairies which takes care of the raw material, a bid advantage, says Sanghvi.

“The most significant factor in milk industry is procurement,” Sanghvi said at the Alpha Ideas 20-20 event in Mumbai. “To get the right quality and amount of milk, the company has to set up its procurement networks.”

The dairy products maker has returned close to 580 percent to its investors in five years, according to Bloomberg data.
