U.S. Deficit Is in the Middle of Pack Among Big Economies: Chart

(Bloomberg) -- President-elect Donald Trump is preparing to push for spending increases and tax cuts immediately after taking office on Jan. 20. That’s raising concerns among fiscal conservatives that the recent widening of the U.S. budget deficit will accelerate, boosting the country’s already growing debt. Among the world’s biggest economies, the U.S. is in the middle of the pack, with its current spending shortfall equaling about 3.1 percent of the country’s gross domestic product.
