BPCL: Only Stock In Top-10 Nifty Gainers List For Three Years In A Row

The fall in crude oil has made Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. among the most consistent performers on the Nifty 50 Index over the last three years. The government-owned firm is the only stock that was among the top ten gainers list, in 2014 and 2015. And the oil marketing company is on track for a repeat performance in 2016.

In the calendar year 2014, BPCL held the 10th spot, with its shares rallying 85.69 percent compared to Nifty’s 31.39 percent rise.

In 2015, BPCL was the third best performer on the Nifty, rising 38.13 percent compared to the 4.05 percent fall for the benchmark index.

So far in 2016, the stock is up 42.25 percent, well above 3.97 percent gain clocked by the index. BPCL is the fourth-best performer on the Nifty, year-to-date.

BPCL, along with refining peers like Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., have benefited from the fall in oil prices, which are now almost 52 percent below its 2014 high.
