Hero MotoCorp Ltd. witnessed a 34 percent slump in sales for the month of December, even as the country’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer did register its best ever sales in 2016, the company said in a media statement.

The two-wheeler manufacturer sold 3,30,202 units in December compared to 4,99,665 units in the corresponding month of the previous year, according to the statement.

However, during the calendar year 2016, the company sold 67,62,980 units, 4.3 percent higher than the total sales in 2015. This capped off Hero MotoCorp's best ever sales in a calendar year.

The company had achieved its highest ever monthly sales of 6,74,961 in September, with sales crossing the 6 lakh mark four times this year.

On a cumulative basis, Hero MotoCorp has now sold 50,24,129 units during the April-December period.
