Difference of opinion within the Tata Group may have led to Cyrus Mistry's ouster, according to former Solicitor General Mohan Parasaran.

The group sought his legal opinion on how to sort out issues that they have been grappling with, Parasaran told BloombergQuint.

In an abrupt move post market hours on Monday, the Tata Group announced that Cyrus Mistry is being replaced as chairman and that Ratan Tata will take over as interim chairman.

A five-member search committee consisting of Tata, Venu Srinivasan, Amit Chandra, Ronen Sen and Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya has been given the task of finding a new chairman in the next four months.
