Tata Motors Ltd.'s Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) just had its best September ever. The British carmaker sold 61,047 vehicles last month, posting a growth of 28 percent over the same period last year, according to an exchange filing.

JLR saw robust sales across all key regions, led by "solid sales" in China growing by 50 percent, followed by a 32 percent growth in Europe and 30 percent in its home market, the U.K. North America also registered a growth of 23 percent for JLR last month.

The company said the Land Rover Discovery, Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque and Jaguar F-Pace were the highest selling vehicles from the JLR stable last month.

September is always an important month for the automotive industry and we are proud of our results. Performance was strong in China and Europe, where collectively we sold almost 23,000 cars this month alone. With the new Discovery launched in Paris this month and sales starting for the first locally built Jaguar in China – the XFL, our British line-up continues to expand and delight in markets across the world.
Andy Goss, Sales Operations Director, JLR

International rating agency Moody’s had recently upgraded Tata Motors’ rating on the back of JLR’s strong performance. The subsidiary accounts for 82 percent of Tata Motors’ revenue according to their statement, on September 27.

Moody’s expects JLR to continue dominating Tata Motors’ revenue given the “broadening product range” of the luxury car maker – both in terms of models and geography.
