Ambuja Cements Net Profit up 77% in Second Quarter

Ambuja Cements Ltd.’s net profit increased 77 percent to Rs 400 crore in the second quarter of calendar year 2016, from Rs 226 crore in the same quarter last year.

Revenue was flattish, rising 2 percent to Rs 2,541.2 crore from Rs 2,493 crore on a year-on-year basis, the company said in a filing on the Bombay Stock Exchange. Other income from interest gains stood at Rs 117.2 crore, the company added.

The company’s earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) grew 58 percent to Rs 582 crore compared to the corresponding quarter last year. The margin on EBITDA rose to 20 percent from 15 percent over the year.
